Britta Baker is a builder with a background in both natural and conventional building methods; specializing in earthen finishes, finish carpentry, and finding creative solutions to irksome problems.
She is passionate about passive solar design, materials with low embodied energy, and healthy hand-built homes. She is also about to start the construction phase of a tiny house building adventure (having been stuck in the design phase for far too long)!
Read a brief description of her past projects and collaborations below, visit the About page for a more detailed resume, or check out the (soon to come!) Tiny House Blog to follow the build!
She got her start with an internship with Community Rebuilds, a non-profit organization that builds hand-plastered straw bale houses for lower-income community members, utilizing the labor and burgeoning skills of interns, who gain free natural building training. Check out this fabulous organization here.
She did an AmeriCorps term of service as a Site Supervisor with the St Bernard Project, leading volunteer groups in the rebuilding of houses Post-Katrina in New Orleans, LA.

Currently residing in Asheville, NC, Britta has worked with both Ashevillage (not recommended) and MudStrawLove, LLC, which is a wonderful local natural building organization that all Ashevillians should check out.

She is also in the late design phase of a tiny house/art studio. Check out her (soon to come!) Blog to follow the design and build process, glean information, and scope out other tiny house blogs and sites!
